Selection of salads From page C3 We seem to have a salad every night during the summer and after a while it gets dif- ficult to keep them interesting. Everyone likes Greek Salad: Cube an_ English cucumber (59¢ at Super Valu) and a big sweet onion. Add plenty of cherry tomatoes (99¢ a pound, Super Valu), lots of pitted black olives and crumbled Feta cheese. Top with an oil and vinegar dress- ing with garlic powder and Italian herbs mixed in. Refrigerate for a couple of hours to !et the flavors blend. IGA has regular quality ground beef for 99¢ a pound this week. I like to keep a meat loaf or two in the freezer for busy days. Instead of forming the meat mixture into a loaf, I make flat rec- tangles about 1°’ thick. They thaw quickly and are great rolled-up with stuffing in the centre. One favorite is sauteed mushrooms, onions and green peppers with a few sunflower seeds and a hand- ful of dry breadcrumbs. Another is frozen chopped spinach, cooked and drained and mixed with a tablespoon of butter and acupful of dic- ed white cheese — jack, Edam or Gouda. Heat gently until the cheese is slightly melted. If you prepare a double size rolled, stuffed meatloaf, cut the leftovers into 1”’ thick Armays undo the hip belt and loosen shoulder straps of your back pack when crossing a river or a stream a The Canackan Red Cross Society AUSTRALIA A Horticultural Botanical Study Tour Sept. 23 - Oct. 13, 1984 Sponsored by the University of Batish Columbia Centre ton C Ontinuing Education and the UBC Botanical Garden Leaders OF Geratd W Strutey Research Scrontugt UBC Botanicat Garden & Mr Dave Tarrant & duc stone!
