Dear Editor:

By now, you must have accept-
ed me as a loyal reader of the
North Shore News. {’m overdue
thanking you for many writers —
Collins, Wright, Hunter, Renshaw,
Wilson, Becker, et al.

Thank you for the Sunshine
Girl, Thank you for the youth in
sports and at Christmas. I'm sure
the young folks enjoy seeing their
names in print, not to mention
their photos (1 certainly enjoy
them). ;

You really bring news of the
North Shore to our homes.
Applause to Robert Huen (page 7.
March: 17).

Now a word for whats-her-

name. Eleanor, my deur lady, Pigs
DO fly!

Some time ago they replaced
the sheep that used to jump and fly
and help me to fall asleep.

Problein is the noise these pigs
make keeps me awake and I'm not
alone with my wish that the sheep
soon return (damn them pigs).

Hey —~ so you're facing 80. So
what?

My wish is that you continue
not only writing but being pub-
lished well into your 90s.

As | said before, it’s not only us
seniors who enjoy your writings.

Concerned about Quay cables

Dear Editor:

One evening last week 1 wit-
nessed an event that turned my
stomach inside out.

While enjoying a stroll around
Lonsdale Quay I saw two toddlers
leaning on the thin loose cables that
act as a barrier surrounding the
walkway on the east side.

They. were looking at the tugs,

. suddenly one pushed the other and
his head and shoulders went right
through the cables.

f thought he was gone right
through to the water 20 or. so feet
below, but he held on to the cable
and kept his balance, they both ran
off to their parents who didn’t even
see this near disaster play out.

May }§ ask those responsible to
please replace these dangerous
cables with a solid stable barrier
before a tragedy occurs — and they
find their insurance rates increased.

SEA-TO-SKY HIGHWAY 99
PORTEAU BLUFFS SLOPE STABILIZATION
TRAFFIC DELAYS

The Ministry of Transportation and Highways advises that there will be 20
minute delays on the Sea to Sky Highway 99 at Porteau Bluffs, 25 km north of
Horseshoe Bay from April 18 to May 8. The delays are needed for slope
stabilization work and will be in effect as follows:

Monday - Thursday
9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Friday
9:60 am - 12:00 noon

Note: There will be no delays on Friday afternoons or weekends.
The Ministry thanks motorists for their patience and cooperation.
