Shawn Edward Richards, 22,
was fined $50 after the North
Vancouver man pleaded guilty to
failing to appear for a scheduled
court date July 8.

27-year-old pleaded guilty to driv-
ing without reasonable considera-
tion for others in a July 15 inci-
dent.

FIVE JAPANESI: students atten-
ding Seycave Secondary Schoot in
North Vancouver District for a
year were greeted and presented
with gifts recently by District 44
School Board chairman Margaret
Jessup,

The students were from Tsuda
Academy, the school that Seycove
wus recently “twinned with in
Kuwana-City, Japan.

They were introduced to the
board by Seycove’s Larry Brown,
who told the board how much the
students’ English had improved in
only one week.

“Their commitment to the
school and diligence will hepefully
have a spin-off effect on our
school,"* said Brown,

The five young Japanese are also
doing well in such subjects as
mathematics,  ‘'Mr. Brown has
made us very welcome, We have
lots of friends now and we are en-
joying Seycove,”' one of the stu-
dents, Takayaki Kiguchi, told the
board.

Kiguchi arrived Sept. 5 with
Takamasa Tabuse, Ai Murakami,
Kimie Ishiguro and Shin Mimura,

An interpreter remained with
them for the first week, but Brown
said two of the school's parents
speak Japanese and could be called
upon for assistance.
