Turkey scare

ALTHOUGH AN animal rights proup claims to have poi-
soned turkeys sold at Canada Safeway und Save-On-
Foods, no reports of poisoning due to revelers gobbling
turkey have been received, said Health Canada
spokesman Jes Camploni on Tuesday.
Camptoni said 20,006 to 25,000 turkeys were returned
to the two stores after the threat was publicized. Those
_hbirets will be kept and tested if they appear to have been
tampered with, he said.

Police chase

A 24-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver man faces several
charges after West Vancouver Police attempted to stop the
driver of a Camaro on Capilano Road early Dec. 27,

: The vehicle fled from a police cruiser at about 1:15
‘gn. Police pursued the vehicle enst on Marine Drive, The

: suspect vehicle stopped in an alley near the 400 block of
West 2nd Street. The driver Ned on foot, but was caught
by police after a brief foot chase. The suspect faces
charges of impaired driving, breathalyser refusal, dan-
gerous driving, causing police to enter into pursuit and
driving without insurance.

New chairman

NORTH VANCOUVER School District 44° acclaimed
trustee Barbara McLellan ss its new chairman at the
board’s Dec. 13 meeting,

McLallan takes over from Pat Heal who chaired the
board for the past year.

Trustee Guy Heywood takes over the vice-chairman
position which was held by McLellan this year.

Both won the positions by acclamation. No other nom-
inations were made.
