Beating investigation

THE INVESTIGATION into the beatings of two North
Vancouver police officers in Burnaby during the early
hours of Noy, 24 is ongoing, say Burnaby police.

The local undercover drug squad officers, a corporal
and a constable, were off-duty when they had an argu-
meat with a group of patrons in a restaucant at
Boundary Road and Lougheed Highway.

' Both parties left the restaurant, and soon afterward
the vehicle carrying the Mounties was forced off the road
on Moscrop Street near Boundary Road, ;

The officers were then assaulted by six people. One of
the Mounties was taken to hospital with facial and eye
injuries and a broken nose. At one point a shot was fired,
apparently by one of the officers,

Pet hospital fire

SEVERAL ANIMALS were evacuated safely on
Thursday, Jan. 20 during a fire at Lonsdale Pet Hospital,
116 West 26th St. in North Vancouver.
