THE MAJORITY of Canadians
rely on smoke detectors and, hand
extinguishers for their primary
means of precaution against un-
controlled fires.

However, many fail to realize
while smoke detectors are effective
and necessary, they can only alert
occupants to fires in homes —
and obviously cannot contain or
extinguish those growing fires.

Hand-held fire extinguishers are
also invaluable, but their applica-
tion is limited by the size of the
fire and the size of the extin-
guisher cannister.
