NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

NOTICE is hereby given that all persons who deem their interest in property affected
by the following proposed bylaw will be afforded an opportunity to be heard on the
matters contained therein at a Public Hearing to be held at the UNION STEAM.
SHIP OLD GENERAL STORE, BOWEN ISLAND, B.C., ON SATURDAY, OC-
TOBER 6, 1990, COMMENCING AT 1:30 P.M.

In general terms, the intent of the proposed bylaw is as follows:

Proposed Bylaw No. 97, cited as “Official Community Plan (Bowen Island), Bylaw,
1981, Amendment Bylaw No. 2, 1990” would amend Bowen Island Official Community
Pian Bylaw No. 14 by: (1) removing Part Four in its entirety and replacing it with a
new Part Four (Snug Cove Village Plan) describing the goals, objectives, policies
and implementation measures to guide the form and character of future land develop-
ment and associated services for the Snug Cove Village Plan Area (see sketch); (2)
moving the goals and policies (previously in Part Four) that relate to the areas of
Snug Cove, outside of the Village Plan Area, into Part Five; (3) moving the Appen-
dices into a new Part Six and adding additional Appendices and Schedules relating
to the Snug Cove Village Plan.

This Snug Cove Village Plan would set out in considerable details: areas for open
space, parks, pathways; areas for future land uses (commercial, residential, institu-
tional and recreational); a road and parking system, additional facilities for ferry
passengers; and the need for an improved and enlarged sewer system and other
services and utilities. The implementation Sections propose changes to islands Trust
regulatory Bylaws, increased Development Permit areas, a review of parking stan-
dards, and several interagency task forces to implement changes in roads, ferry mar-
shalling, parking, open space, pathways, and recreatioal facilities.
