‘Business as usual’ for church

Hardy says it’s business as usual
despite the ongoing renovations at
his Lynn Valley church.

Approximately $460,000, raised
within the congregation, is being
pumped into the project, which
will see the church practically
double in size. Added will be a
new, bigger sanctuary and space
for classrooms, meetings and of-
ficework.

““(Currently), we are really short
of space in every way,’’ says Har-
dy. He expects the renovations will
be compiete in mid-December.

One impetus for the expansion
was the grov'ing membership at the
church. ‘‘We packed in 185 people
the other Sunday morning — that
was definitely overprescribing the
building,’’ Hardy said.

The other major reason is the
church’s flourishing Christian
Education program, a ‘Sunday
school’’ for adults and children
that runs Sundays at 9:45 a.m.,
followed by the 11 a.m. service.
