169,000 vehicles were
topped over the Christmas
holiday period. From
December 8 to January 1,
1979, 1,331 drivers had their
licences suspended for 24-
hour periods and 1,405
impaired driving charges
were laid.

Complete statistics on
accidents during the period
are not yet available,
however indications are that
there has been no significant
departure from the prior
year's totals on a province-
wide basis. |

BATmobile and _ other
roadchecks will continue to
be a routine activity of all
forces throughout 1979 with
the next province-wide
coordinated campaign set
for the weekend of March
16th.
