MacBean said as a result
of Overwaitea's request, the
Board wrote to the Ministry
of Health. He said the depu-
ty minister replied to the
North Shore health unit, as
well as units affecting Bur-
naby, Richmond and Van-
couver, requesting that they

come into line with other
jurisdictions throughout the
province.

“There was no pressure
from the health ministry to
relax our regulations. Bur-
naby’s and Richmond's reg-
ulations were already more
relaxed than ours were,
whereas Vancouver has more
restrictive regulations,’’ said
MacBean. “it’s just unfor-
tunate about the timing of
this whole thing. Hf it had
just been resolved three
months ago, there wouldn't
have been all this fuss and
people wouldn't be drawing
