IMENTS BRIEFS Two men fined $1,000 TWO MEN were fined $1,000 each after appearing May 7 in North Vancouver provincial court on a charge of theft under $1,000. Cari John Newell of Burnaby and Neal Ogloff of Vancouver pleaded guilty to theft of four locking lug nuts from an automobile on Jan. 5 in North Vancouver City. A second charge against the two men for attempted theft of four automobile wheels was dropped. In addition to the fine, Newell, 25, and Ogioff, 20, were ordered to stay out of parking lots and to have no contact with each other for the duration of their two-year probation. Smoked cat given CPR A NORTH Vancouver cat that ran out of its first nine lives after being caught in a Thursday-morning house fire received a 10th life when a North Vancouver District Fire Department firefighter coaxed the feline back to life by administering CPR. Firefighters were called Thursday to 3843 Hoskins Rd. at 8:44 a.m. Fire caused damage to the kitchen and bathroom areas of the upper floor of a two-storey wood frame home. The rest of the house sustained heavy smoke damage. Total damage is estimated at approximately $85,000. While fighting the fire, the crew on scene recovered three cats from the home. One was found to be dead. But Chief Bruce Ram- say placed an oxygen mask over the stricken pussy’s face and masssged its heart. The cat revived and was taken to an animal hospital to recover.
