Strawberry festival scheduled

THE LYNN Valley Merchants
Association has organized a July
i to 23 summer Strawberry Festi-
val.

During the strawberry celebra-
tions, the mall will be outfitted in
full strawberry regalia and will
feature a host of sidewalk sale
tables.

Festival highlights include a
strawberry pancake breakfast
starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Ju-
ly 22, followed by a strawberry
cheesecake contest that will be
judged by News food columnist
Barbara McCreadie, local
cookbook author Joyce Webster
and Westlynn Bakery owner Peter

Vanderhoek.
Contest winners will receive a

‘trip for two to Palm Springs,

courtesy of Marlin Travel and Ca-
nadian Holidays.

Registration forms for the con-
test will be availatie from Lynn
Valley merchants until July 20.

Topping off the festivities will
be a strawberry shake-off
challenge. The competition,
scheduled to run between 3 and 4
p.m. July 22, will pit strawberry
beverage drink recipes from a
dozen North Shore restaurants in a
battle to determine the best local
strawberry concoction. :
