JUNIOR HOCKEY Flames’ streak continues PARK & FLY $@50o per day THE NORTH Shore Winter Club Flames continued their winning ways in West Coast Junior Hockey League action on the weekend as they turned back the Seattle Nor- thwest Americans 6-3 and squeak- ed past the Grandview Steelers 7-6. The weekend victories left the Flames comfortably ensconced in first place, 11 points ahead of second-place Seattle. On Nov. 28 at the North Shore Winter Club, the visiting Seattle Americans could well have had the Flames on the ropes in the first period had it not been for the superb play of goaltender Gary Knight. But instead, while outshooting the Flames 16-7, the Americans led only 1-0 arter the first period. The Flames came out flying in the second period, assuming com- mand of the game with three quick goals within a four-minute span. Kelly Lawrence combined with Ken Savage to put the Flames on the scoreboard with the equalizer at the 1:39 mark, and then the locals went ahead two minutes later as Dan Payne's blistering shot from the point found the opening just inside the post on the goaltender’s stick side.
