TIME OUT: Sports’ ‘Old Buzzards’ of the North Van- couver Senior Recreation Hockey League, in their first tournament ever, won all the marbles at the annual North Shore Old Goats Invitational Old-Timer’s Hockey Tournament. The Buzzards, rated no better than eighth in the popular eight team Tourna- ment,, were a last minute replacement. Backed by the strong net winding of Keith Major and a disciplined crew of blueliners, the Old Buzzards continued to upset through the early round robin games. Hollyburn Hawks emerged victorious from the Red Divi- sion to face the Old Buz- zards, who won the White Division, in the finals. Continuing to play their disciplined style of hockey, the Buzzards put away the Hawks 5-3. Wayne Maxwell and Hal Donovan let the Buzzards with two goals each in the final. REC LEAGUE BEGINS The North Vancouver Senior Recreation Hockey League began their regular season this past Sunday at the North Vancouver Recreation Centre. The League continues to expand with 6 teams operating out of the Rec Cen- tre this year. The West Van Firefighters and The Wariors are the two new teams entered this year along with the orginal. In opening round games Sunday might, The Drillers knocked off Warriors 5-3. Paul Furlong led The Drillers with 2 goals, with Harry Brown picking up a goal and an assit. The Warriors goals were shared by three players D. Vickers, L. Braley, and J. Dean. in the second game, the Old Crows, with a late goal off the stick of Val Robert- son, clipped the Time Out Casino night to help Mexico trip THE LYNN VALLEY Falcons Under 13 Soccer team are hosting a Casino night on Friday, October 14. This team is the current B.C. Provincial Champion and are raising money to help offset tournament travelling ex- penses, hopefully to Mexico, to participate in a 120-team International tournament. The Casino night will feature alli the elements of a real casino, including Crown and Anchor, blackjack, poker, etc., will all chips pur- chased redeemable for cash al the end of the evenings.
