User-pay

homeowners in North
Vancouver City will pay
about $2.15 more in 1983
than in 1982 to have their
garbage picked up, City
Engineer Alan Phillips told
council Monday.

Phillips said about $44.25
of the average single family
home tax bill in 1982 was for
garbage pick up, while city
homeowners will pay a user
charge of $46.40 to have

their garbage picked up by  people’s garbage removal.

service was financed through
general tax revenues. But
many apartment dwellers
and businesses don't get
their garbage picked up by

their trash out in containers,
not cans or bags.

hospital has its garbage
picked up daily, so will pay
the maxiumum user fee of
$1.265.15 in 1983, he said.

establishing the user-pay
garbage service.

But Alderman Bill
Sorenson said he was
unhappy with a section of
the bylaw that allows an

week from each residence.
Council should establish a
maximum limit, even = if
council decides to ignore
that limit, he said.
