Kim Gauthier effortlessly conjure
the unreal world of Hollywood
stardom and its exaggerated pec-
cadillos as the Italian film star Vit-
torio Vidal and his Ursala.

And then there is Duff Mac-
Donald as the claustrophobic
Oscar Lindquist.

Nerds and geeks have become
such a cliche on stage that it is
hard to believe in yet another,
tongue-twisted, self-doubting pup-
py dog.

But MacDonald succeeds in set-
ting a standard against which
others will be measured.

The singing is solid, with the

~ company numbers in particular

standing out.

Big Spender and Rhythm of Life
are legitimate show-stoppers.

There is so much to admire in
Sweet Charity. .

Unfortunately it’s a one-person
musical and there are just not
enough aches in this particula
breaky heart. .
