Building
fees rise

Building permit fees for
new construction in North
Vancouver will rise from
between 20 per cent to 100
per cent when new bylaws
are given final reading next
week.

North Vancouver City
council voted Monday night
to change several bylaws
covering building, electrical,
plumbing and gas permits.

Electrical permit fees will
mse by 100 per cent,
plumbing fees by 60 per cent
and gas and building bylaws
by 20 per cent.

Director of Permits and
Licences Frank Morris
indicated that the change in
the bylaws would bring in an
estimated $50,000 to $55,000
a year more for the City.

The bylaw amendments
were given first three
readings by the council

North Vancouver District
council Monday decreed
that a public meeting would
be held to hear the views of
local residents and others
about a proposed extension
of the openjng hours of the
Queenscross neighbourhood
pub from 11:00 p.m. to 1:00
a.m.

The Quvueenscross is
located at Lonsdale and
West Queens. It was built on
the site of a former service
station and although there
are active business premises
in the immediate vicinity the
area is largely residential.

all of them licenses per-
mitting 1:00 a.m. closing.

Rose also said he un-
derstood that at the 11:00
p-m. closing time at
Queenscross a number of
people then took off for such
“in-hotel” pubs. ;

This he felt discriminated

against the Queenscross
owners.
Alderman Mike Lakes

proposed the idea of a public
meeting to determine the
opinions of all interested
parties and suggested that
further consideration of the
matter be deferred until such
a meeting had been held.
Council agreed.

Money bag stolen from
West Vancouver restaurant

A leather bag containing
$1,500 was stolen from an
unlocked drawer behind a
counter at Ricky’s Pancake
House in Park Royal South
Monday afternoon.

A West Vancouver Police
spokesman said_ that
sometime between 3:30 and
7 p.m. the money and some
Chargex and cash receipts
were stolen while the cashier
was not at the counter.
