All land routes to down- town were close to a standstill when the Lions Gate Bridge failed to open on time tor morning rush-hour traffic. The Second = Narrows Bridge was clog: Countess North Shore res dents suddenly became transit converts believing that the SeaBus would get them to work quickly. Daziag the height of the morning rush hour, there was a four sailing wait fora SeaBus. That means a transit user would wait an hour just to board the little vessels that take 15 minutes to cross the harbour. Doug Newman, opera- tions supervisor for the SeaBus, said that the serv went off schedule at 7:15 am., a little more than an hour after the Lions Gate Bridge hailed to reopen at 6 a.m., an opening time in place as late as Sunday night. “We are going, as fast as we fely go within the para- meters of the harbour, We do the best we can for our cus- tomers,” said Newman on Monday at the SeaBus termi- nus.
