GEORDIE the Cairn 7 ~
terrier lives in a roomy
aparoment near Deep
Cove.

His tavourtte room is the
guest bedroom, which doubles
Asan office and music room for
one oof his owners, ‘Tom
Kennedy.

“Et there’s a human being i
this room, he’s in here.” said
his other owner, Kathy
Kennedy.

And it doesit matter to
Geordie that the bed has a pink
ruffled spread, that the furni-
ture is old and mismatched or
thar the offwhite walls are
almost bare.

Bat it does matter to Tom
and Kathy. Thats why in the
fall, they entered a contest
through Park Roval Shopping
Centre for a room makeover.

Thev're quite happy with
the rest of their five-year-old
condominium. Although mov-
ing from a house meant they
had to seale down and choose
their furnishings carefully, the
apartment is large and open,
and decorated in soft, flattering
shades. lis large brick patio,
scattered with potted plants,
overlooks a thickly-treed forest.

But that guest room ...

“This furniture is just a con-
glomeration of things trom my

mother in daw’s old house.
And dite probably the ughest
desk around.” said: Rathy with
a laugh.

She and Tom weren't sure
how to starta favelitt tor the
room. Luckily, they won the
Park Royal contest, and as well
as S250 to spend in every
home fashion store at the shop
ping centre, they alo won ue
services af Lossen) Chambers,
the desiener behind SerDec. a
Vancouver based floral and
decorating design company.

“Well probabiv replace the

the walls .. fiuy finishes are a
possibility.” said Chambers,
during one of her initial con
sultations with the Kennedys.

The plan is to give fom
more space to plav his tiddle
and make room for a playpen,
for when a coming grandbaby
visits. Anew desk and end
tables will be added, but, said
Chambers, furniture must do
double duty, since storage is an
important cement in an apart
ment.

And, of course, any changes
will have to be given the go-
ahead by the reonr's most ded-
icated user: Geordie.
