And when it comes to these backyard delights, more and more Canadians are turning on the pro- pane and bypassing the briquets. “Today in Canada, over four million propane barbecues are in use,” reports Norm Estey, direc- tor, market development for 1CG Propane, a national company bas- ed in Winnipeg. “Propane is so popular because it’s portable, convenient and inex- pensive. That’s quite a bargain for the convenience of in- stant heat.”’ Although propane has been used in Canada for 40 years, it is a new fuel for many barbecue owners. “The government requires that propane tanks be plugged during transport and secured upright in a ventilated space,” says Estey. He also says properly connecting the barbecue hose to your tank is crucial. ‘‘Most barbecues have a rubber O-ring near the tip of the hose connector to help form a seal against leaks. If the O-ring is worn or damaged, ask your dealer for a replacement before reconnecting the hose.”’ Lighting deemed DANBEL INDUSTRIES and Ca- “nadian Standards Association (CSA) are warning owners of in- candescent wall mounted fixtures catalogue number WB-43 to stop using them immediately and return the fixtures because of 2 potential shock hazard.
