B2 - Sunday, January 16, 1983 - North Shore News FIRST EVER SKI CLASH Simon Fraser and UBC to meet on Grouse The first ever local clash of the UBC and SFU ski teams will happen at Grouse Mountain on January 28, 29, and 30th. The SFU Clan- smen Invitational Ski Meet, the third stop of the five stop Northwest Collegiate Ski Conference Northern Division circuit, entails three categories of ski events. The Cross-country event consists of amen's [5 km., a women’s 7.5 km. and a mens and womens 3x5 km relay: there is also a Dual Slalom and Giant Slalom event. Friday, January 28 will see the men’s !5 km. and women's 7.5 km. Cross- country event starting and finishing on the Peak Plateau near the Peak office. Saturday, the women’s and men’s Giant Slalom starts at 10:00 a.m. with their second race at 1:30 p.m. The Giant Slalom site is on Blazes Run, off the Inferno Chairlift. On Sunday, the men's and women’s 3x5 km. relay starts at 8:30 p.m. followed by the 10:30 a.m. men’s and women’s Slalom race. The Dual Slalom will use Dual the Labatt’s Ski Machine enabling all spectators to instantaneously view the racers finish times and competitor differential umes.
