announced the recipients of the 1997
North American Occupational Safety and
Health (NAOSH) Week Awards.

The annual awards recognize individual and orga-
nizational excellence in workplace health and safety
initiatives.

Cashore said organizations taking a proactive
approach to workplace health and safety deserve
more recognition.

“Workplace accidents and illness represent a huge
cost in both human terms and as a cost to our soci-
ety.

“People talk about labor disputes hurting the
economy, but werkplace injurics cost us 10 iimes as
