GM sales are . down

but Volvo's are up

OSHAWA, Ont. (UPC)-
General Motors. of Canada
Ltd.’s August car sales were
down 20.1 per cent from a
year ago, a spokesman
announced recently.

Saies of 27,989 cars in
August were down from
35.021 in August, 1980.
However, August 1981 car
sales were up 3.1 per cent
from the month before, the
spokesman said.

Truck sales of 8,066 units
fell 32.8 per cent below
August 1980 figures.

DETROIT (UPI) - Sticker
prices of 1982 Chrysler Corp.
cars are going up an average
of $622, but the increased
value of the American dollar
is allowing price reductions
of up to $705 on imported

Renault Le Car models.

Chrysler confirmed
Monday it has notified
dealers of tentative price
increases on 1982 models
averaging 7.7 per cent,
slightly higher than the $617
or 6 per cent increase
General Motors Corp.
applied to its 1982 cars.

Harold K. Sperlich,
president of Chrysler's. North
American Automotive
Operations, said those. prices
could change when next
year’s models go on sale this
fall.

If there is a change, he
said, it will be a reduction on
some models.
