Pr ee ee ay ee aye In 1981, when the Senior Centre was opened, the best we could offer for snacks was cheese and crackers and Dad's cookies. As requests increased for healthier food options, so did the ingenuity and determination to meet these nutri- tional needs, Every Tuesday for sev- eral years, a portable steam table, delicious soups, sandwiches and cheese biscuits, one food service co- ordinator, and willing volunteers, transformed the lounge into a wel- come eatery, From these bare bones beginnings, grew a whispered wish amongst members for a cafeteria ... a place where eating could be done in style and comfort as well as expand our menu (which has already won a reputation!) With the community members and government support we have realized this dream. The cafeteria is more than most of us could have imagined! David Langmuir, our main chef and Food Services Co-ordinator, has established his culinary expertise long before arriving at the Seniors’ Centre. David claims his love and specialty for Italian food was devel- oped working at Corsi Trattoria Italian Cuisine, and Carmello's Ristorante Italiano.
