make double-sided copies and cut
your paper consumption by half.
© Make memo pads by cutting up
old office paper, stapling the
blocks together and writing on the
backs. Make sure you use both
sides of a piece of paper whenever
possible.
© Write advertisers who use direct
mail campaigns. Tell them you
won't support them until they stop
sending out junk mail. A junk mail
demonstration is being planned in
June — I'll keep you informed.
© Newspapers are the easiest item

PILOT PROJECT A SUCCESS

A pilot project that had selected
B.C. government offices recycling
paper is going to be expanded this
year to include 25,000 government
employecs in Vancouver and Vic-
toria. :

In its six-month trial rua, the
project saved some $40,000 in
disposal costs.

A VIDEO capturing the highlights
of last year’s modular display
chronicling the history of North
Vancouver’s schools is now being
sold.

Entitled The Story of a Com-
munity, the 56-minute video can be
obtained by contacting the Leo
Marshall Curriculum Centre at
987-6667.

The Story of a Community
display, which was open for view-
ing last spring at Park Royal and
Capilano Mall, attracted some
25,000 visitors.

It was made up of several
modules, each devoted to the
education system during one de-
cade from the 1900s to the near
future.

When the modules, painstak-
ingly reproduced photographs and
other artifacts had to be dismantl-
ed, David Newman of North Van-
couver School District 44 recorded
the display on video tape.

The video not only captures the
details of the display, but also the
enjoyment and reactions of many
of the people, young and old, who
