By Surj Rattan News Reporter Local soccer hero Bob Lenar- cuzzi looks relaxed dressed in a white golf sports shirt and blue exercise pants in the board room of the Vancouver 86ers’ Burnaby office. It would seem, as the head coach and general manager of the championship 86ers, the North Vancouver resident has done everything there is to do in the sport of soccer. The boyish-looking Lenarduzzi is probably best remembered from the days he played with the former Vancouver Whitecaps of the now-defunct North American Soccer League. He takes a few seconds to pause and reflect after a reporter asks him what the future holds for him, what goals are left for him to tackle. “Pd like to retire as a profes- sional soccer person. Whether that can be achieved or not, I don’t know, but | think it can,’’ says Lenarduzzi. ‘‘My goal, at some point, is to coach the Canadian national team.”’ While he didn’t knew it at the time of the interview, that goal was well within Lenarduzzi’s reach, | Lenarduzzi @ NAME: Bob Lenarduzzi @ AGE: 36 @ OCCUPATION: Head coach and general manager of the Ca- nadian Soczer League’s Vancouver 86ers @ RESIDENCE: North Van- couver @ BORN: Vancouver @ FAMILY: Wife Deanne, son Ryan, 8, daughter Sunny, 4 One day after having said he would like to coach the Canadian national soccer team, West Van- couver resident Tony Waiters an- nounced he would be stepping down from the job.
