Cancer, a community b

SOME 2,000 hard-working
volunteers are currently
canvassing North Shore
homes to help fight a disease
that will strike one in four
Canadians in their lifetime.

The extensive Cancer
Campaign on the North
Shore is coordinated by Sally
Smith, with Jean Reid as
West Vancouver Campaign
Chairman and Anne
Hallstein as North Van-
couver Campaign Chairman.
Their dedicated efforts in
placing area chairmen, who
in turn have sought out
responsible zone captains,
are showing positive results.

Many csommunity
organizations are also. in-
volved. Several church
groups, Job's Daughters,
Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Girl
Guides, North Vancouver
Legion, and Sutherland,
Windsor and Handsworth
Secondary Schools are all
participating in this” wor-
thwhile cause.

The funds collected by the
campaign will go to support
pathhient services, public
education, and ongoing
research The money raised
by Terry Fox 1s solely for
new and innovative research
projects, as was Terry's
personal request
