Olympic groups denounce boycott pressure

LAUSANNE, Switzerland
(UPI) - International
Olympic sports federations,
in a blunt statement drawn
up by Britain’s Prince Philip,
condemned Western
governments Tuesday for
putting pressure on athietes
to boycott the summer
games in Moscow.

The 26 federations which
make up the Olympic games
said in a= statement “a
boycott of a sports event is
an improper method to use
in trying to obtain a political
end.”

chance of individual athletes
being allowed to compete at
Moscow because time was
too short to change Olympic
