A16-Sunday News, September 21, 1980 Council helps out courts again North Vancouver District council has given permission for the council chambers to be used as both a small claims court and a traffic court, in an attempt to ease the backlog that continues to plague the North Vancouver Provincial Court system. Council originally authorized the use of the council chambers as a small claims court last September on aé_ temporary basis, because of the court backlog. In a memo from Mayor Don Bell considered Monday night, council was informed that a fourth judge is being brought into the area to deal specifically with small claims. In order to accomodate this change, Bell said he was told that traffic offences would have to be dealt with outside of the temporary court facilities on East 23rd Street. ‘ District council had no hesitation is granting per- mission to use the council chambers up to two days a week for an indefinite period to deal with small claims or traffic matters.
