TWO EVENINGS of Alan
Ayckbourn comedy come to North
Vancouver’s Waterfront Park this
weekend along with a host of other
activities at the local park.

summer fun for the whole family
includes night entertainment
features Between Mouthfuls,
Drinking Companions and Mother
Figure the evenings of Aug. 6 and
7.

Directed by group founder
James Doyle, the offerings star,
among others, local performers
Noni Donnelly, David Parent, Jar-
red Blancard and Don Virstuk.

Also running at Waterfront
Park this weekend is the North
Shore’s first Caribbean festival
Aug. 7 featuring calypso and reg-
gae music 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The B.C. Corvette Club hosts a
show at the park Aug. 7 from
noon to 4 p.m. featuring a host of
old and new models of America’s
first true sports car.

An 1! am. to 4 p.m. Western
Art Circle display caps park events
for Aug. 7.

Elsewhere, West Vancouver
Sketch Club members will be at
Cleveland Dam Park Aug. 7 put-
ting on a display and showing their
skills to the park’s visitors.

contest finalist

NORTH VANCOUVER composer
Arne Ejgenfeldt, 25, has been
selected as one of three electronic
music finalists in CBC Radio’s
Young Composers Competition.

The live performance with com-
puter titled Circles and Squares
joins two other electronic music
works to be performed for the
judges Nov. 6 in Ottawa.

This eighth biennial contest drew
entries from 83 composers, with
finalists selected in electronic
music, chamber music and works
for string ensembles.

Finalists are eligible to win a
$5,000 first prize or $4,000 second
prize in each category. A grand
prize of $5,000 goes to the best
overall work.

Founded in 1973, the CBC and
Canada Council-sponsored com-
petition strives to identify and en-
courage new young Canadian
compositional talent.
