Angel tree brings glad Xmas tidings IT’S THAT time of year — Christmas in the city. For many, Christmas is a time of joy — of people chatting, laughing and shopping. Inside houses, the warm glow of the fireplace combines with the scent of shortbread baking and a Christmas pine. There is the glow of excitement and anticipation in children’s eyes. Unfortunately, not every child in our community can look forward to a joyous Christmas. Many are from underprivileged families who face a bleak and dismal Christmas without our help. Mall manager Lynn Warwick explains shoppers need only remove an Angel Tag from the Angel Tree, which is located in the mall's centre court. ‘‘Then purchase and wrap a gift for either a boy or girl, your ‘special angel,’ and place the gift under the Angel Tree with the tag completed,’ Warwick says. All gifts will be donated to a special child in time for Christmas. Through the efforts of Lynn Valley Cen:re and the Salvation Army, 983 gifts were distributed in 1285.
