What is the proper way to act
when one of those messenger
services comes into a place of
business with a flower, or in
costume, to sing 3 song, or to
strip?

There seems to be a pro-

liferation of this activity.
Should the whole office or
restaraunt stop when the
messenger comes in, and
watch the performance? Is it
rade to ignore 2 singer or a
Stripper in your place of
employment?
What about the recipient?
Does she thank the
messenger, tip him, or what?
It always seems awkward to
me. -

GENTLE READER - The
intention, when people send
such messengers to offices, is
to make the recipient to feel
awkward. That is what is
supposed. to be. funny,
although Miss Manners
agrees that the joke is wear-
ing a bit thin now.

. If you want to delight the
sender, you are supposed to
go. to. pieces, squealing,
blushing, and so on. The. per-
son honored, unless genuine-
ly ‘outraged and willing to ex-
press. it, has some obligation
to. be a good sport and
simulate this’ behaviour.

Bystanders have no such
obligation. Thay are welcome
to watch, since the message is

\ intended to be a general spec-

tacle, but those who wish to
go on working, in an office

so honoured, or to go on’,

eating in a restaraunt, are.
also welcome. to ignore the
commotion as best they can.

On the night of Saturday, June 18th,
1983 this young woman and nine
other women and teenage girls were
secrelly hanged by Islamic Revolu-
tionary authorities in Shiraz, Iran.

The Baha‘i’s of North Vancouver will be holding an open
memorial service to honour the Baka‘i’s killed in Iran, at
the William Griffin Hall, 551 W. Queens, N. Yan., at 12:30

on July 9. :
The memorial will be followed by a rose bush planting
ceremony with Alderman Murray Dykeman planting the
first bush.
The program also includes a showing of the newly refeased video “Mona & the Children*, All
