Foreign students limited

Simon Fraser University’s
Board of Governors recently
approved introduction of a
quota to limit admission of
undergraduate students from
other tountries.

The quota, which will take.

effect in 1983-84, will limit
the number of newly ad-
mitted international students
to seven percent of the total
number of SFU’s new un-
dergraduate. Presently
enrolled undergraduates will
not be affected, nor will

“Coping with Campus”
programs for women
planning to enter UBC this
fall after a break of five or
more years in their
education.

According to Dr. Jock
Munro, «academic vice-
president, SFU is “ex-
periencing severe pressures
on its capacity to offer
undergraduate rrograms to
British Columbian and
Canadian students and these
students must be given more
priority in programs.”

He said the quota of seven
percent represents a
reduction in the current
level of international
students, while still keeping

feeling more comfortable
and confident with the UBC
campus, and to be aware of
the resources available to
them.

There will be an op
porunity to meet with
current and prospective
students, as well as
suggestions for realistic goal
setting, anxiety reduction
and time management.
