$15,000 has been alloted to
purchase a metal box car
and a blower system. |

metal box car, says Lester.
They already have the
blower system.

Wood and other dry
materials will be burned in
the boxcar place in the
ground, and air will be
blown across the top to
disperse the smoke.

“There will be little or no
ash.” ;

At present the waste is
burned on the ground, and
the prevailing westerly winds
blow columns of smoke over
the river and into North
Van.

Ridge owners face dilemma

Mayor Derrick Hum-
phreys promised attention to
the dilemma of property
owners in District Lot 1123
on Hollyburn Ridge.

He made the comment
after Mr. and Mrs. James
Cant, who own Lot 13, Block
C, tried unsuccessfully to
sell their property to the
municipality.

Mr. Cant said it was “the
same old problem”, that a
single lot can’t be used for a
cabin and he can’t sell the
lot.

Municipal Manager Terry
Lester suggested the lot
owners in the same situation
could join together and build
one cabin on a combination
of three lots, the minimum

area for cabin construction.
