Particular concern was
expressed by various alder-
men over the dumping of raw
sewage in the water as well
as inadequate access and
water hookups. .

Powell said the resolution |

would require the NHB to
‘live up to their responsibil- _
ities’’ regarding the house-
boat predicament. The mat-
ter of houseboats in the

region has been under‘study |

since July by the Harbours
Board and a special commit-
tee of the Great. Vancouver
Regional District. =

One of the aims of ‘the
NHB and GVRD. was to
_ establish designated areas
-for the floating homes.
However, at the present time
no specific areas. haye- been
approved. |

Alderman Marilyn Baker
did not. agree’ -with the
- resolution. .
GVRD. . special committee -
should be given: until the
middie of January to come up |
with designated. areas. and
expressed concern. that, |
without | designated areas,
the Harbours. Board would”
not have any place to. send
houseboats. Shipped out of
Deep Cove. ° .
