Take the ‘to narrow left trail down slope. This is a section of the Baden Powell Centennial Trail that con- nects Horseshoe Bay with ~ Boggles. the Deep Cove. mind, doesn’t it? * Just past this junction the trail takes you down to a raised, wooden walkway in a very boggy area. It’s a. good example of a forest swamp with cedar and alder pre- dominating. Keep to- the walkway. This area is. very. sensitive to human traffic -- besides, you might lose a boot in the mud. The canyon again begins and ‘becomes steeper. At Twin Falls you'll find a bridge across the Creek that gets you right on top of the torrent. The creek is getting a bit wild. Continue up the right side- of the.creek past this bridge . to the suspension bridge. It’s -about a quarter mile further, © Cross the suspension bridge and you'll see the Ecology Centre ahead of you. If you live in this area this bridge may be just another _way across the Creek. But if you’ve just come from the Prairies, you will recognize it aS..a suspension. bridge --: you'll suspend breathing all the way across. It’s a spectacular view. It’s a spectacular experience. . I am always amazed at the variety within such a short distance. You don’t find that in the city. The two séagons, I find most ‘interesting for this hike are spring and winter. In the . spring the forest is dense, quiet,- full of birds and. salmon berries. In the winter - the ice is spectacular as it hangs and drapes off the canyon walls and water falls.
