Guest of honor McCarthy, Human Resources Minister and other head table guests were led in to the beating of a tom-tom by band counsellor Simon Baker. The Save St. Paul's fund needs $500,000 for urgent repairs to the 96-year-old Grace monument which Baker described as “a heritage for the Indian people”. He was echoed by Miranda who declared St. Paul's had “saved the lives of all the Squamish people.” The fund has so _ far reached approximately $230,000. The church has been designated the number one heritage building on the North Shore by the Heritage Advisory Committee and is being considered as a national historical monument.
