Later, like so many Alber- tans, | took to drinking rye and Coke. Awful. It's been years since I've had a Coke, with or without rye, but the taste is something no one forgets. Yesterday, | bought a can of new-flavor Coke, just for curiosity. Sure glad I didn't waste any rye in it! Someone should have told the Coke people the old saying, ‘if it ain’t broke, don't fix it’* be- fore they jumped in and turned ‘‘the Real Thing” in- to something else. It's crossed my mind that they may have had a reason that they don't care to discuss. Could it be that they discovered that some ingre- <.-+ in the old formula isn’t healthy? is the new flavor a trade-off against some bad publicity? As long as th: old formula stays locked in a vault we'll never know. ea8 The kids and 1 were reminiscing about the kiddy birthday parties they had in the years gune by - those marvellous occasions when ten or (twelve little gremiins bearing gifts converged in the living room and ended the day smearing the icing on the walls. Kids love this creation and it’s a very practical cake for a birthday party since it's easy to cut into manageable pieces for small children.
