BOTH THE mens and womens baskeball teams at Capilano College ended their regular seasons last weekend 6n a winning note. Selkirk College was in town for two final gaes against each team but it was almost as if the Selkirk team wasn’t even there. The men and the women Blues had no trouble winning two-straight Friday night and Saturday afternoon and now head into Totem Conference playoff ac- tion this weekend at BCIT. By MARK O‘REILLY On Friday night, at Delbrook Community Gym, the women took the court first. The final was Capilano 66 Selkirk 41. Leah Ellis scored 18 pts, and Brenda lues prep: Giesbrecht netted 12. The game was suprisingly close in the first half as the Blues just pilled away late in that half to enjoy a 32-20 half-time lead. Capilano blew it open in the second and Selkirk, who finish near the bottom in the women’s conference, could not come back. The next day was even worse for Selkirk as the women bowed 38-98 to Capilano. Sherri Sturmey led the way for the Blues with 33 -pts, while Brenda Giesbrecht had an equally impressive 26 pts. Leah Ellis controlled the boards, hauling down 12 rebounds. The mens team was never challenged by Selkirk in either of their weekend games.
