Municipalities ink
recycling agreement

A CONTRACT for curbside
pickup of newspaper on the
North Shore was signed by
Mayor Derrick Humphreys
of West Vancouver, Mayor
Jack Loucks of North Van-
couver City, Mayor
Marilyon Baker of North
Vancouver District, and Em-
mie Wong Leung, Manager
of International Paper
Industries Ltd, Thursday.

The North Shore has

several firsts to boast about
in regard to the newspaper
curbside pickup program
that is to begin Nov. 1. It is
the largest area in British
Columbia - with 55,000
dwellings - to embark on
such a program. This is also
the first time in British Col-
umbia that three
municipalities have worked
together in this effort.
Promotional and educa-

tional events are planned for
the next two months as a
lead up to the program.

telephone the local Planning
Department for details.

Each North Shore resident
will receive a letter from
their Mayors fully detailing
the program, prior to its start
on your garbage day in the

week of November 7, 1983.
