METOR Meats, the meat
processing plant at 205
Donaghy which has operated
in North Vancouver since
the 1950s, closes July 15.

The closure will affect
about 70 employees and
manager Jack Hamilton said
this week: “We will
endeavor to keep the people
going as long as possible.”

He said the question of
closing Meteor, a wholly-
owned subsidiary of Kelly
Dougias since 1968, was
“strictly a financial deci-
sion.”

Though he refused to give
further details on the closure
or concerning layoffs, he
said: “We have been in
financial difficulties for
some time and just cannot
carry on.”

Arrested,
charged,
jailed
same day

HELPING HIMSELF to two
packets of cigarettes in the
Park Royal South store of
Super Valu last Thursday
gave a shoplifter the kind of
day which would make him
wish he'd never got out of
bed.

By the end of the day, 22-
year-old James’ Frederick
Feaver, of 1633 Capilano
Road, North Vancouver,
had had a hectic chase
across Marine Drive twisted
his ankle, been charged by
police, appeared in court
and jailed for seven days

James Cunningham aged 21.

ed to avoid the chase and the
