in West Van blaze

A:West Vancouver couple
returned
Monday night and were
greeted by the sight of their
double car port on fire.

Two cars which were
collectors’ pieces were
destroyed in the blaze which
at one time seriously
threatened to spread to the
couple’s house adjoining the
carport at 5524 Parthenon
Place.

Fire inspectors say the
blaze was caused by ashes in
a garbage and storage bin,
thought to have been placed
there by a housekeeper who
had cleaned out the fireplace
