OPEN LETTER TO EDUCA- TION MINISTER PAT ‘McGEER Dear Dr. McGeer: a os My letter to you of October 12, 1977 explains our. long- term concerns About the “ government’s failure to change legislation so that. ~ school boards and teachers oan engase in .a . more “meaningful process of collec- tive bargaining. The purpose” of this letter is to-deal with the immediate problem: of 1978 teacher salary bargain- _ ing. oa ; 7 ee. The last time we met to discuss teacher salary. bar- gaining you suggested that the BCSTA recommend to all ‘school boards that they offer - - a zero increase in this year’s salary bargaining.: The BCSTA Executive is concern- ed; however, that in the current B.C. labour relations climate such an offer would be viewed. by teachers and the public as unilateral and | completely unrealistic.” .
