NORTH SHORE OPPORTUNITIES

AT THE North Shore Information
and Volunteer Centre, there are
over 200. volunteer requests on file
from various non-profit, agencies
across the North Shore. Here are
just a few. The volunteer centre is
a United Way agency. .

READING AND LANGUAGE
TUTORS needed for six to 12-
year-olds for one hour twice a
week. No experience necessary as

Arthritis
group sends
children
to camp

HELPING ARTHRITIS sufferers
and their families has kept the
North Shore branch of the Arthritis
Society busy since its formation
| last October. ‘

The group holds monthly
meetings at Lions Gate Hospital
with professional guest speakers
and discussion, informal chat and
support over coffee.

The North Shore branch is also
involved in raising funds for a
special summer camp for children.
During the week of August 18 to
21, more than 25 children from all
over B.C., who suffer from ar-
thritis, will attend. Camp Capilano
in. North Vancouver. The camp
allows for fun and relaxation, and
at the same time permits informal
group discussions, teaching ses-
sions and therapy.

one-to-one tutoring will be very
rewarding.

seniors on afternoon outings. Days
would be at the convenience of the
volunteers. Vehicle is provided.
FACILITATOR to work with a
small group of four or fire women

in their 80s who need some very
simple activities and lots of indi-
vidual attention: The right person
could motivate these clients
residing at a private care facility in
West Vancouver.
