PALM BEACH BEEF STEW Salad oil 3 pounds beef for stew, cut in 2-inch cubes Salt Pepper 1 can (10% oz.) condensed beef broth ‘1 brandy (optional) Japanese delights Japanese cooking, as we are coming to know it in Americanized restaurants, 15 considered much simpler than the many styles of Chinese cuisine. For this reason Japanese dishes have their staunch = supporters. just. as the Chinese food devotees rarely waver in their choice SESAME SHRIMP ‘4 Cup peanul ol 3 tbispns lemon juice J tbispns soy sauce | tbispns honey ‘4 teaspoon ground ginger 1 large clove garlic, crushed | pound uncooked jumbo shrimp, shelled and deveined 1/3 cup toasted sesame secd Combine 2 tablespoons peanut oil. lemon juice. soy sauce, honcy. ginger and garlic. Mix well. Sur tn shrimp. Cover and refrigerate two hours, stirring once or twice Heat remaining 2 tablespoons peanut oil in a skillet over moderate heat Fry shnomp 1'4 to 2 minutes on each side, or until done Inp cach shrimp in sesame seed, lightly coating each side. Place on heated serving platter Serve hot Makes 6 scrvings. BEEF TERIYAKI ‘a cup finely chopped onton 2 tablespoons sugar ‘a ground ginger 1 large clove garlic, minced ‘A cup soy sauce Ye cup sherry 2 tablespoons peanut oil 2 pounds boneless beef sirloin, cut into 4x1x1/4 inch stnps Combine onion, = sugar, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sherry and peanut oil in large bowl. Sur in meat: Mix well. Cover. Refrigerate several hours or overnight Thread stmps of beef onto metal skewers. Broil = 3- inches from source of heat, 2 to 3 minutes on cach side Makes 6 servings (c) 1980 Features Suburban ‘Super’ one bowl carrot cake Mix till moistened. Beat 2 minutes at medium speec. Frost with: Cream Cheese Frosting 3 oz. package of cream Cheese 1 tsp. vanilla I tsp. butter 2 cups icing sugar Beat at low speed and spread on cake. 1 medium onion, sliced Peel of 1 orange, coarse 6 medium potatoes, peeled — and quartered 2 tablespoons butter or margarine 2 large stalks celery, sliced “% cup walnuts, coarsely chopped 3. or 4 soda crackers, crumbled Heat enough oil in Dutch oven to cover bottom of pan. Brown meat on all sides. Season with salt and pepper. Add broth, brandy, orange peel. Cover and cook over medium low heat 2 hours.
