NORTH VANCOUVER’S Doug
Ladret and his figure skating
partner, Ontario’s Christine
Hough, placed ninth in Olympic
figure-skating pairs Feb. 11 at
Albertville, France.

Ladret currently resides in
Kitchener, Ontario, but he was a
member of the North Shore
Winter Club (NSWC) for many
years where he did extensive train-
ing.

Ladret and Hough have been
skating together since 1984.

The bronze winners of figure
skating pairs were Canada’s Lloyd
Eisler and Isabelle Brasseur.

Eisler’s previous partner was
NSWC member Katherina
Matousek.

Matousek, a Czechoslovakian
immigrant, and Eisler placed
eighth in the 1984 Olympics and
won the bronze medal at the 1985
World Championships.

In Albertville, both gold and
silver medals for figure-skating
pairs went to Unified Team
(Russia) skating members.
