THE B.C. Automobile Association (BCAA) has created bursaries for en- vironmental studies at Simon Fraser University and the B.C. Institute of Technology (BCIT). BCAA provided $5,000 in funding at each institution, and the B.C. Provincial Matching Program met those funds with another $5,000. Highland students raise money for cancer HIGHLANDS COMMUNITY School in North Vancouver recently staged its third Terry Fox Run, with great resuits. Held in conjunction with the school’s weekly fitness run, the in-school event raised $3,058 for cancer research. Children from Kindergarten through to Grade 2 ran a course on the schoo! grounds, while older students ran three kilometres through the Fairmont Road area. Parents were encouraged to run or walk along with the children. “We're very proud of our stu- dents and their commitment to finding a cure for cancer,”’ said Mike Day, Highlands vice-prin- cipal and organizer of the run.
