41 — Wednesday, April 5, 1989 - North Shore News Renting art is proving popular FOR THE past 18 years the North Vancouver Community Arts Council has brought a colorful world of local artwork to North Shore residents with an eye for art and an eye on the budget. The council's art loan show takes place every second Thursday of the month (except July and August) on the top floor of Pres- entation House in North Van- couver. Said the council’s Norma Sagar: ‘it's a good art show. You don’t have to rent. You can just come to look. It’s a non-threatening way to become familiar with art.” OVER 200 ORIGINALS The loan program, with an in- ventory of more than 200 prints, oil and watercolor paintings by Lower Mainland artists, draws in- terest from families and corpora- tions looking for original works of art. The art inventory, selected by a jury cof professional artists, in- cludes marine scenes, landscapes, floral studies and abstracts. All are framed and ready to hang. The pieces rent from between $3 and $11 per month. Sagar said the rental fee represents two per cent of the artwork’s value.
