The North Shore Family YM- CAs have been working hard to train people in correct response procedures through their CPR or Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation programs. The YMCA’s goal “‘to serve the North Shore community in educating people about the need to Jearn CPR and to maintain skills by recertifying yearly,’’ is aided by generous community club dona- tions. Recently, both the Howe Sound Lions Club and West Vancouver Lions Club donated two CPR mannequins, and in return, the orth Shore YMCA _ provided a CPR class for the clubs’ members. CPR is a basic skill that any in- dividual can learn to provide first-hand help in the case of a cardiac emergency. Summer courses at the North Shore YMCA are underway and fall course scheduling has been completed. Local residents graduate from NORTH SHORE residents were among the students who recently graduated from the British Col- umbia Institute of Technology {BCIT) with diplomas of techno- logy or management certificates. Six North Vancouver residents received special awards. Gail Faulkner not only received the Fish, Wildlife and Recreation Graduating Award, but also the Canadian Institute of Forestry, Vancouver Section Award. The first award is based on academic achievement and the second on all-round achievement. Masoud Reza Kazemi was awarded the UMACS of Canada Formwork Design Prize, Anne Marie Rathbone won the Canadian Pulp and Paper Association Award, Rand D. Scullard received the Computer Systems Award in Microcomputer Systems, Shelley Joanne Seebach was presented the B.C. Food Technologists Award in Food Technology and Allan James Smith received the Advanced Manufacturing Graduating Award. Winter Club reunion held THE NORTH Shore Winter Club, one of the oldest family clubs on the Lower Mainland, celebrates its 30th birthday this year with a reu- nion of all past members. The reunion will take place at the North Shore Winter Club on Saturday, August 27, and is part of a weekend full of activities in- cluding a vintage car display and a ”50s dance. The club is attempting to locate former members so that invitations may be issued.
