Dear Editor:

involved in the performing arts,
was pleased and surprised to see
the editorial space and comments
which outlined the difficulty the
arts have in getting the public sup-
port in attendance to local produc-
tions.

As in other publications, both
regional and local, such reviews
are imperative in developing public
support and audiences for specific
shows.

The News appears quite pleased
to express and extend an opinion

come out and support the arts, you
don't really offer the public any
real sense of need or urgency but
somehow seem to drop a guilt trip
upon them and seem 1o suggest it

develops out of cnjoyment, ex-
citement and appreciation.

The public needs to know that a
live play is fun, entertaining, real
and that a particular production
was smashing, cxhilarating, the
event of the scason or year.

Give the public a real reason to

thank you for your honesty and
the arts too may learn from it as
well.
